I saw this question on Quora the other day. This is my answer.

Definitely! For example, I just popped over to Elance and found about 25
PHP related jobs posted within the past two hours.

However, whenever I see this question I feel like it’s less about demand
and more about competition. This video is a full podcast episode I did
covering this…

But, I think that very often web designers who ask this question are
struggling with all the competition that exists and figuring out how to
compete in a crowded marketplace.

Now, the thing about THAT is you really have to take on a competitive
mindset and understand you have to go out and get clients. You have to
provide compelling reasons each step of the process to make it hard for
them to pick someone else.

If you take the “hope and see” route, it will fail.

In this video, I cover a very specific process I use for getting clients
but the most important thing is to have A process in place.

If you ask a lot of web designers if they’re playing the “hope and see”
game, they’ll say NO… but when you ask what their process is, they can’t
tell you.

If you don’t have a process that you know works… you ARE playing the
“hope and see” game and that’s the issue.

That may be a little tough love, but I believe it 100%. Hopefully, it gives
you some insight. The demand is there. The question really is… can you
compete and win that demand?
